how to turn off 2 factor id

How can Apple get away with not allowing us to turn off 2 factor authentication when we never actually opted in???? I am extrememly frustrated and I just spent an hour on the phone with someone trying to tell me it cant be turned off. WE NEVER TURNED IT ON!!!!

Can anyone tell me a backdoor way or some other way to turn this crap off??

Otherwise I have to create a new apple ID and then we lose the stuff we have paid for.

All new AppleIDs for some time now will be created with 2FA automatically enabled and it cannot be disabled. So creating a new AppleID won’t change anything.

And it is not a security feature of your device at all. It is a security feature of your AppleID - the online login ID you use to access online Apple services.
