turn off purchase sharing I'm not the organizer
how can I turn off purchase sharing if I'm not the organizer? I don't want to use my mother in law's CC for my own purchases.

If you don’t want the organizer’s payment to be charged your only option would be to load your AppleID with credit. If your AppleID has a positive balance, then your AppleID credit will be used first before the organizer would be charged.
It is either that, or leave the family share altogether.
