what version of protools does Big Sur work on

what version of protools works with macOS BigSUR? I need and use protools for work but this new Macbook won't let me downgrade for some reason.

MacBook Air (2020 or later)

You can't downgrade to a version of macOS earlier than your Mac shipped with.

Check Avid Pro Tools support.
