Blinking folder on mac screen after recovery boot up.

I made the mistake of doing a recovery boot up on macbook pro. Trying to get computer into factory mode and reset. I followed the steps using Command R combination, and with my no knowledge of computers, I think this lead to the hard drive being erased. Therefore, I am still left with just a blinking folder on a gray screen. Nothing will bring up any prompts of any sort. Does anyone know what can be done, if anything? Please help!
