Unable to receive iMessage notifications one 24" iMac, but ok on iPhone

I can't receive/display two-factor authentication text messages from banks, Ancestry.com, etc. on my new 24' iMac. It worked before on my old 21.5" iMac. The Migration assistant app worked well with no problems -but this capability disappeared ...I can receive other SMS messages ..
The answer was found on the iPhone under settings/iMessage..Go down to text message forwarding. That allows the iPhone text messages to be sent and received on other devices signed into my iMessage account. Since i Just changed iMacs, I had to select the new iMac... And it works.....
