Preview bug in macOS 11.5.1
Since I upgraded my Mac to macOS 11.5.1 a few days ago Apple Preview app does not work properly. Is anyone aware of bugs in Preview 11.0 (1018.6.2)?
Thank you.

A screen shot would help here. Fonts display normally for me.
2. I tried several time to print a Word 16.51 document as a PDF file to open it in Preview but Preview just showed odd pages.
I don't use Word so someone else will have to reply about this.
Preview is also working as usual for me.
The odd pages problem is for sure because of some selection in the print dialog. Preview has nothing to do with it. Check what is the option selected in the “paper handling” popup of the print dialog.

Do these problems go away when you use (the free version) of Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the same files?
I am not familiar with Acrobat Reader. I got the complete list of fonts used in the PDF but how do I identify the specific font of a word in Acrobat Reader? Anyway, the original font is a serif font while the substituted font in Preview and PDFpen Pro is a sans-serif font.
This suggests to me that the pdf uses a font that is not installed in the system-hence fint substitution is taking place.
If we can figure out which font that is and the font can be downloaded and installed, that ought to do it.
Thanks for the suggestion which makes sense. However, there isn't any feature in my PDF readers that will let me select some text and view the properties for that text to see exactly which font it uses. So it's hard to know which font is the culprit.
In Acrobat Reader, go to File > Properties (Command D), and look at the Font tab. That will list all fonts in the document and show whether they are embedded or not.
I noticed two problems:
"does not work properly" in what way?
I tried PDFpen Pro 13.1 (the last version of PDFpen Pro) and got the same problem but I also tried Acrobat Reader Mac and fonts were correctly displayed. Thanks for this suggestion.
You never said which fonts these are. Maybe some font is corrupted and Adobe uses its own version?
OK, thank you.
