finder desktop dock

When I try to drop a file on an application in the dock to open it, everything disappears and it says "no window available."

Check System Preferences>Mission Control, try unchecking top 4 boxes.

finder window closes when another window opens When I use the finder window and click on a file that opens up in another window, the finder window closes. When I close out the window that opens up my file I needed, the finder window is not open or available. I have to go to the dock and click the finder icon to get it back up on my desktop. How can I get it to stay open so I can refer back to it once I am done working on whatever file I needed? Very frustrating to have to continuously open it back up on the taskbar.

No sidebar when clicking on Finder in Dock The Finder window View Menu shows "Show Sidebar" greyed out. It used to show it the Sidebar. The Sidebar does come up when I click on an external drive to view its contents. Also, when using "Save As" in an application, the Sidebar does come up.

Apps in dock cant be moved or changed in the dock.. why? When I click to move or remove an app from the dock using my TrackPad on the iMac the screen just changes with nothing on the screen and says "No Available Windows" How do I change this or stop the trackpad from doing this?
