Tracking while paddling

I use the paddling option in the Workout app while kayaking but the GPS doesn’t track my route. Why? Very, very disappointed that I have to run the Strava app at the same time to get my route.

Apple Fitness Cross Country Ski doesn't map, doesn't record distance Apple Fitness "Cross Country Ski" doesn't map the route & doesn't record distance - basic GPS functions. I know there's other Community answers out there suggesting you simply use "Outdoor walk" or "Hike" or a different option. But why can't THIS option be fixed? Running, walking, bicycling, hiking, etc - all record distance and map. Isn't it simply a matter of adding the same GPS programming function to Cross Country Ski that all these other options use?

Which workouts track gps on map? I want HIIT to also track gps, put it seems that it only selects a single location and doesn’t track the running done during the workout. I want to track my gps location DURING an HIIT workout. Is there anyway to set this up? It will show the location where I started the workout, but part of this workout includes a significant amount of running and I would like to see a gps map. Anyone know how to do that? Or am I stuck using the Run workout?

What workout type are you using (I don't see paddling):

Workout types on Apple Watch - Apple Support

If you are using Rowing, that is meant for a stationary rowing machine and will not record motion with the GPS.

Paddling is a work out option on my Apple Watch SE. It does everything except give me a map of my route

Paddling only measures time and calories burnt,not distance.
