Extra memory storage for Iphone 12 promax

Can I use external hard drive or usb to my Iphone 12 promax, as extra storage for my pictures and videos that I don’t want to delete? I don’t want to keep it in icloud or google.My phone needs to free a lot of space.

How to use the space on my iPhone instead of iCloud I got an iPhone 14 pro max with 256 gigs of space so I could keep all my videos and photos on the device I never wanted to use iCloud or any other drive. Like what’s the point of having all this space on the damn phone if I can’t use it to store all my photos and videos??!! Seriously ??!!

If you delete Photos and Videos from the iPhone it is deleted from iCloud Photos too, and vice-versa. Alternatively, try uploading to iCloud Drive then you can delete it from the iPhone.
