If it is 32-bit WD Smartware software, or intended for Windows, then it is incompatible with the strictly 64-bit application requirement of Big Sur 11.*. As already stated, you should not attempt to install any vendor drive software.

Western Digital software is not needed, and often causes issues. It should be uninstalled.

Specifically, WD SmartWare is a Windows-only product that was discontinued back in 2018.
It has never run on Mac, and it doesn't run on Windows any more, with WD directing users to use Acronis True Image instead.

Whether or not you need any additional software is debatable. Personally I find most drive vendor's software to be severely lacking, with better options for managing your backups (if that's what you're using the drive for).
