Of course this is 'dealers choice'....however
I would turn the question around and ask you— is there a compelling reason not to keep your Mac up to date?
Upgrading macOS without fear - Apple Community
It is always recommended to keep your software up to date, if for no other reason the security updates associated w/ the lastest macOS...and the XProtect, the anti-malware system on the macOS.
Apple uses its Software Update service — as a mechanism for installing “background and critical” updates that are installed silently in the background with no notifications to the user.

It never pays to fall too far behind in the hardwardware or software—this only makes the risk of a not so clean migration, when you are forced to make a leap. Baby steps along the way compared to a giant leap. This insures your associated software stays compatible and you are not overwhelmed when the wheels fall off.

What sealed it for me was Dark Mode. My keys would get stressed looking at the bright white of documents, etc., all day long. The dark mode gives me black background with white text, much easier on the eyes. I also think it's faster but that can be subjective.
