Storage location of music library

My 60 GB of music is stored on an external HDD which worked fine w/ ITunes, now w/ Big Sur Music, the app wants my music on my main Internal SSD. There's a feature in Music settings to change the location of my music media but it won't recognize my external drive. How can I point it toward my ext drive so as to not use space on my Internal drive?

See Use multiple libraries in Music on Mac - Apple Support. You should be able to create a library on the external drive, which will have its media folder inside the new library folder.
