individual apple music and family plan
if my kids have individual apple music plan and i buy the family plan, do i need to cancel their individual plans?

No, according to: the footnote zt the bottom of the 'First, set up Family Sharing' section in :
Get an Apple Music family subscription - Apple Support
"If someone in the family group already has an individual or student subscription to Apple Music, renewal of that subscription is automatically canceled when they join the family group."
That way their music libraries that they might already have will be retained.
