Can I connect to my 6th Generation iPad a SD card reader?

I have a 6th Generation iPad 5 and want to connect a SD card reader. Is this possible? Best Buy Associate said no but the Apple support article says yes. Help.

Does iPhone 13 support unpowered SD card reader I have an unpowered micro-SD card reader. It used to work fine on my iPhone 11 and it still works with my 9.7” 5th Gen iPad. I have not been able to get it to work with my iPhone 13 pro. I read somewhere that beginning with iPhone 12, the lightning port no longer provides USB power through lightning port. If true, that explains my problem, question is, will a powered SD card reader work with my iPhone 13 pro?
