ipad air 4 doesn't connect to t-mobile

Set up a T-Mobile prepaid plan. Loaded, wouldn't connect the cellular system. Spent hours on phone with Apple and T-Mobile. Apple is sure it is T-Mobile problem. T-Mobile doesn't have a clue about eSIMS and prepaid data plans on iPad tablets. They can only work on problems with an account number or telephone number. Prepaid data plans on an iPad have neither.

I have put a T-Mobile SIM in the iPad, it connects, so it is not a coverage issue.

In desperation, set up RedteaGo prepaid plan. It uses AT&T, It connected and works fine. Trust the Chinese to succeed where America fails.

Am I the only iPad Air 4 that cannot connect to T-mobile using an eSIM from an application that Apple provides on their iPad Air 4?

Don't even get me started on Verizon.

I selected T-Mobile from the list of plans that Apple provided on the iPad Air 4 Cellular Plans selection page on the device itself. Why would Apple include T-Mobile if they didn’t support eSIM on the Air 4? Verizon is not on that page and I confirmed that Verizon doesn’t support eSIM on the iPad Air 4 even though their Add A Line implies they do, in addition to supporting it on the iPad Pro. (I am a long time Verizon Customer.)

it gets more ironic. Truphone is on the selection page on the Air 4. Guess who Truphone uses in the U.S.? Bingo, T-Mobile. So they don’t work either. AT&T is on the page as well as ReteaGo from China. They both work, cause RedteaGo uses AT&T.

I would assume Apple would remove T-Mobile and Truphone from their own list if T-Mobile didn’t support eSIM on iPad Air 4. Apple phone support staff believes they do.

Thanks, I saw this T-Mobile post too. I have no errors, but I still have no connection and T-Mobile service doesn’t know that tablet prepaid data plans don’t have phone numbers or account numbers.

I would really like to hear from somebody who has made this work on their iPad Air 4.

Thanks for your response.

First, see note 6 here. It explains that not all carriers support eSIM.

iPad Air (4th generation) - Technical Specifications

Then, have a look at this T-Mobile page. Though it’s obviously dated, it’s the most current. It offers no evidence whatsoever suggesting any iPad model supports eSIM on their network.
