My new iPhone 2020 won’t play sounds (such as in videos, Siri, and driving directions) when I’m away from my my house WiFi, but works fine when I am back at home on Wi-Fi. I have tried turning off hone and turning back on. My iPhone 5 did this same thing, but I thought it was because it was just old.

Contact your carrier about your cellular data connection.
Make sure you can connect to the Internet (using Safari) while away from home.
Then compare all your settings with your husband iPhone.

I definitively can connect to internet when away from home. Just no sound on video, no sound from Siri, and no sounds in directions from Maps app.. Husband has same model phone, on same cell plan yethe has no issues with sounds when away from our home Wi-Fi.
