How to remove MacOS Monterey Beta 12.0 from my Mac?

I just bought this refurbished Macbook Pro M1 (2020) from Apple. Somehow it was signed up for the beta program. Although it's possible it got this setting from my previous 2010 Macbook Pro, it's doubtful because I'm by no means a Mac power user.

Is there a way to roll this back to a previous (non-Beta) version of the MacOS?

Like some others I can't see my WD My Passport Ultra external HD. And their posts seem to indicate it's related to the BigSur MacOS.

Anyhow, I'm now considering returning this to Apple.

Thanks in advance!

If you can, make a Genius Bar appointment at your local Apple Store and let them RESTORE your M1 back to Big Sur 11.5.1.

There is a way of doing this using Apple Configurator 2 and another Mac. But since it's new/refurbished let Apple do this.

Apparently it was complicated. The tech at the genius bar was unsuccessful. He said getting the two computers to see each other was 'tricky'. He was unable.

Thanks for the follow up ok_morpheus...

I would recommend you  submit your Apple Feedback hhttp://www.apple.com/feedback concerning the 'process' involved here.

Update. I've returned it.

In the end it was apparent it had been sold to me with Monterey Beta 12.0 installed. And, Monterey Beta did not support an internet boot of a different MacOS, so it couldn't be rolled back to a previous version.

I made an appt. with the Genius bar and they tried for 30+ minutes to connect their laptop to it in an attempt to modify the firmware, but they were unsuccessful. In the end it was unclear if the lightning ports were functional.

The tech told me they've had several show up recently with the beta installed. Apparently there's a flaw in Apple's Refurbished program.

In summary, I've lost 4+ days working to migrate my old Mac, troubleshooting a USB drive the new Macbook wouldn't see, and then trying to roll it back to a non-beta MacOS. At this point I would have bought new if they had offered me something for my troubles other than their apologies. But at least my 10+ yo Macbook still works.
