Third party AV is not recommended— it typically does nothing but add issues to the macOS and competes directly with Apples own built in security:

No it is not true. Do not install third party antivirus apps on your Mac. These apps interfere with built-in protection, use system resources while providing no benefit, and they may cause problems. The modern MacOS has built-in protection. Let the MacOS do its jo.
Just keep your computer up to date with Apple and you'll be fine.
