How do I lock the iPhone sceeen in order to back up data

I have iPhone 11 and screen does not lock after hitting right side button. Can you help? Thanks…..

Also can I scheduled back up to occur daily at 4 AM

For an iCloud backup, attempt to do that when you go to sleep at night. Plug in the iPhone to electric power and let it charge. Press on the SIDE button and your iPhone will be locked as you normally do. If you have a passcode setup then you an unlock it after entering it.
