Maximum Capacity, Cycle Count

HI

I Have MacBook Pro M1 2020 (Cycle Count:49 Maximum Capacity:97%) why is maximum capacity dropping and should I be worried about?

Thanks

All batteries inevitably and inexorably degrade, and all inevitably fail.

The degradation is also not linear, and the value shown for the current health may or may not follow a predictable pattern over time.

More relevant for most folks is whether the battery lasts as long as is needed, wothout an “extra” recharge becoming necessary during normal usage.

thanks Mr Hoffman its only six month old, should I leave it plug in all the time?

You can leave it plugged in when convenient to do so. Leaving it plugged in will not damage your computer or battery. Leaving it plugged in reduces the rate of accumulation of battery cycles.

thanks bob so nothing to worry about Maximum Capacity 97%?

Batteries degrade. Just like our bodies degrade. Though swapping a battery in a MacBook Pro (if this case should eventually come to that) is a whole lot less messy, and less costly than swapping the degrading parts within each of us.
