"Trimmed" audio clip still plays the cut section in LogicPro

While working on 1 particular audio clip, I cut it at playhead and then trimmed a measure of music out of it, but it still plays the trimmed section even though it is not displayed. Even editing it in the audio editor using the silence function, it still plays the cut bit. This only happens with this one audio clip and I've never encountered this problem. Is there a setting on the track controls which is out of whack?
