During iPhone restore, I get an error 4010 message

My daughter forgpt her passcode. I am trying to restore her iphone using itunes on my computer.

During the restore, I get an error message. iPhone cannot be restored. An unknown error occurred (4010).

Anyone know how to get past this? There is no info on apple website for this error code.

oops ... Sorry ... uh oh ..

I see the error numbers 4000 (restore error) and 4010 (update error) do not, in any way, match!

Seems I sidetracked myself while searching for error-code answers.

Apologies :)

Hi JoePug76,

Welcome to the Apple community, where some of us do our best to help each other :)

If applicable, here's a great user tip from Lawrence Finch:

If you see Error 4000 updating your iPhone with Windows iTunes

https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-250003773

Or

In this Apple support article:

iOS update and restore errors

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204770

Says:

If your device couldn't be restored

and you get a message that "an unknown error occurred [error number],"

use these steps

Hoping this is of some help :)
