No iPhone is water proof. They are water resistance, which is not a guarantee that exposure to water will not cause damage. Any exposure to water may cause damage. A water resistant iPhone is simply less likely to suffer damage than a non-water resistant iPhone. But damage from water exposure is always a possibility.
