administrator permissions

I have an iMac running Big Sur 11.5.

Two of us have 'accounts' on the computer.

I have an HP Printer and Scanner which responds to print requests from both of us. It also works when I want to scan a document but when Gilly wants to scan it says 'no permission consult administrator' - I guess I'm the administrator but can't see how to 'grant that permission' - any suggestions would be most welcome.
