If possible, make an appointment at the Genius Bar in an Apple Store near you and let them help you. There should be no charge for that service (especially since it is a new watch). They may even help you set it up if you ask.

I can just barely feel the dips, there are not very deep at all, the same with the black lines you see separating the silver circle. You say that you cannot turn the device on at all either? Have you tried at the edge of the back with your fingernail scraping slightly?

I'm trying to remember when I got my Series 6, but they have all had a translucent plastic around the entire watch to protect it. I can't remember if the 6 was like that or not, but I would think I would remember if there was any difference. I actually used to save that in the box if I needed to send it back to cover it.

It should have come off as one piece. Are you sure there is still film on the back? It should not be stuck down that hard that you cannot pick it up with your fingers. Can you provide a photo?

So, what was the outcome? Curious.
