Apple TV 4K does not work after update

—I was prompted to update my Apple TV 4K software (the new model). I accepted.

—The update took well over an hour.

—After the update, I was prompted to see if my TV could accept the best resolution. Again, I accepted.

After that, the TV just blinked quickly on and off. On and off. It would not stop.

I tried resetting by pressing the back & TV buttons on the remote. The light on the unit blinked on and off quickly to indicate it was re-setting but to no effect. The TV screen continued to flicker on and off continuously.

I then unplugged the Apple TV unit completely....from the back and the wall. I removed the HDMI cable from the unit and the TV. I then plugged them back in.

The Apple appeared........and the screen again, did nothing but flicker on and off continuously. No change.

I called Apple Support. They told me to do everything that I had already tried.

Does anyone have any other thoughts?

Thank you.

It sounds like your download or install was corrupt. You will need to take the device into your local Apple Authorized Service Provider to be serviced. You can use the Apple Authorized Service Provider Locator (AASP) & Genius Appointment to begin locating one in your area.

There are many reasons an update or any download can become corrupted. The main reason I have seen is the data is sent from the oringinators (in this case Apple) from their servers in packets of information and have to go through many routing points along the way. At any one of these routing points a slow down (albeit very slight) or an interruption can cause a packet to be damaged along the way thereby causing a corruption. Some corruptions are very slight and a user may never notice a problem as the software has corrections built into it, however some corruptonss are more egregious and can cause issues similar to what you are experiencing.

If you ever get the opportunity to see how the Internet actually works, sometimes it seems it is a miracle it works at all especially when you consider the vast amounts of data it has to handle.
