Annotations on iPad books

İ use books for viewing and annotating pdf files while studying. After annotating a file for the last few weeks, the size of the file has increased from 24Mb to 4.2Gb and now it will not open.

İs there anyway to make my annotations not increase the file size so dramatically?

How can I select text in Books Highlighting and copying lines in Books. I can’t select any text in recently purchased Apple books. I like to do that to take notes. Also sometimes I want to look up definitions of single words by selecting them. I no longer can select text in Books.
