syncing airpods to a replacement case?

recently, i’ve broken the case to my airpods. i bought a new replacement case off ebay and i’ve tried to get it to connect. it won’t. the airpods won’t connect to the new case, and i’ve tried a bunch of different stuff (resetting my airpods, resetting my ipad, pressing “forget this device” and trying to reconnect it, leaving the airpods in the new case charging next to my device for over half an hour)… and nothing. if anyone has any advice i would really appreciate it!!

Hi there,

To start, I am going to run you through how to connect your AirPods to a replacement case. These steps can also be found here.

  1. Put both AirPods in your charging case.
  2. Open the lid and check the status light. It should flash amber.
  3. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for a few seconds. The status light should flash white.*
  4. On your iPhone, go to the Home screen.
  5. Open the case — with your AirPods inside — and hold it next to your iPhone. A setup animation appears on your iPhone.
  6. Tap Connect, then tap Done.

If these steps are still not working, you should probably find the serial number of your new AirPods case, and check that it is genuine by entering that serial number here.

Let us know how it goes.

Hope this helps.
