Can't update MacOS because iCloud is filling up all my hard drive!

I want to update MacOS, but I can't. I need to free up 15gb. There's basically nothing on this computer except for iCloud that is all synched up there. How can I reduce the space that iCloud is taking?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.14

It turns out that this option is available only from MacOS 10.15 and I have 10.14 :-(

For future readers.

I tried the terminal command: brctl evict filename

It worked but iCloud keeps loading more content, so no space was freed. No matter if the option of managing my icloud files automatically is on or off.

So I ended up disabling iCloud drive from that computer. It's now deleting allll my files and I'll have to put them back. But I guess it's worth it because I'll have more options for iCloud once my OS is up to date.
