Bluetooth mouse won't copy/paste

Bluetooth mouse won't copy and paste using right click (or left). I have checked all the boxes in the mouse utilities are correctly ticked, I have restarted the computer and switched the mouse off and on and still nothing. I can drag text around but not copy and paste from one programme to another. Currently using High Sierra 10.13.6. I have tried clearing it via the activity monitor - no joy either. Keyboard works ok and can carry out copy and paste using mouse via the top line Edit menu. Any ideas gratefully received.

Hi sorry - yes an apple bluetooth mouse , couple of years old never had a problem before. Tried some of the suggested online solutions including restart, cycle the Right hand click in the system preferences for mouse, restart again, change the batteries in order to reload the mouse to the computer. Other than a recent upgrade of the OS nothing has changed. Beginning to suspect the mouse itself as it seems reluctant to scroll using my forefinger, but will do so if I use the RH edge of the mouse. Refitted a wired (non apple mouse) and cut/copy and paste works ok with that. Keyboard also works without a problem. Thanks for responding.
