Why do some messages appear as small thumbnail images? They audio is OK, however the images are too small to view. I have tried restarting my device, my iOS is up to date (14.7.1) and I have tried forwarding as an iMessage to my self and still the image is unviewable - too small.
This sometimes happens in messages that are in a group chat or have come from a non-iOS device.

These would be videos taken on a phone., rather than photos. Sometimes iPhone sometimes not. I read the section on SMS & iMessages, this same issue happened with a video taken on an iPhone and included in a group message with 2 people on non-iOS devices.
The below screenshot demonstrates the issue - the video image comes through as a thumbnail and does not enlarge once I click to play. Audio is fine, however the image remains thumbnail size.
