how to increase/decrease the size of email

photo attachments RECEIVED on iMac. it's so easy on my ipad/touch screen but surely there's the equivalent on iMac

iMac Line (2012 and Later)

O.K. I found that I could open with Preview by right clicking on the photo attached to the email, then file "open with preview" this gives me a new view of the pic with Markup commands above. I can define a rectangle, I can crop and I can adjust size by defining new new horiz and vert sizes which is painful. Is there a way of simply "stretching" the pic while maintaining ratio?

I wasn't able to try your solution out because:

  1. I couldn't open a photo attached to an email
  2. in Preview, the I can't open Mark-up - it is greyed out
  3. Of course, being unable to click o Markup, means I couldn't any of the options


It's so simple on the ipad. You just use two fingers to expand the photo. I would think that Apple would provide an equally simple method on the mac
