Apple watch talk to text not working

Microphone button is blacked out for talk to text after update. How do I fix? Checked and seen if siri is enabled and it is. Restarted and still unable to touch it.

Do you have dictation enabled?

Discovered this solution accidentally as well during the last of 2 unhelpful and lengthy calls to support. Like you said, just swipe up from the bottom and tap Scribble and everything returns to normal. I have to do this with EVERY conversation thread though, and there's no guarantee the settings will stick. Support couldn't even tell me if this was a bug or a new feature. I never had this problem before updating.

so I can confirm that swiping up did bring up the option to tap scribble as well. I do have to do it for every conversation, but it would appear that it does stick and there is no need to swipe up and hit scribble. It's weird though because it appears that at least for me, only the messages app is affected. Messenger app from Facebook does not have this problem. I can scribble or tap microphone icon in bottom right without having to swipe up first.

I am having issue no matter what message I select.

I have a series 6 44mm and watchOS 8.3

When I'm reviewing the message only options I see under the latest text is the iMessage where you go and either draw a message or hit microphone in the bottom right, to the left of the is the triangle that brings up animojis and ability to send a sound message with a bunch of other options. Under the iMessage and triangle are a bunch of suggested reply's then share location button and contact details.

The only place I see I can reply is to tap the iMessage box, when I do I get

I have tried a full erase reboot both iPhone and watch. Not sure what else to do :/

Side note though.... I can say Hey Siri, then tell her to send a text and that's the only way I can respond to texts other than using the suggested text buttons.

Like everyone else it was driving me insane. My friend works for Apple he is one of the senior advisors and when i explained it to him he had no idea what i was talking about lol i knew if he didn't know i was screwed calling support. i was sitting here reading all of your posts and somehow figured it out. i believe it's definitely connected to the new update. I'm sending this thread to my friend so he can get this on their radar that we have a credible issue. happy holidays everyone I'm so glad we figured this out together.
