Mid-2010 27" iMac won't start after power failure/spike

Had an evening power failure, then a momentary (what appeared to be) spike, then off for a while to return about 45 minutes later. The following morning the Mac was off (dead cold) and I couldn't turn it on. I tried disconnecting the power cable, waiting 5 seconds, reconnecting, then power button, to no avail. Still dead.

Contacted Apple Chat and they said to try resetting the SMC...basically the same process that I tried previously. I followed the instructions, but nothing worked.

Anyone have insights?

Did/do you have the iMac plugged into a Surge Protector?

If you do, then check the Surge Protectors reset button and/or replace it.

If not, then the spike/surge could have taken out the iMac’s power supply.
