MacBook Pro not connecting to the internet via Wi-Fi

Two days ago, my MacBook said it was connected to my internet, but I was unable to use the internet for anything.

I tried everything I could find on google for solutions. I then went in a support chat with the Apple support for around 3 hours trying everything, only to come to the conclusion that I needed to reinstall MacOS Big Sur using my phone’s hotspot(which it was able to connect to). I did that, and it worked all of yesterday. Now today, the same exact issue is happening. I don’t have enough time to spend another 3 hours on tech support, but I also don’t want to have to reinstall MacOS every other day just to be able to work. Not to mention that I already ran out of hotspot data for the month by doing this once. Overage charges ain’t cheap.

Is there anything else I can do that will be a better solution?

Howdy,

That you were able to get your Internet back with a software solution (re-install), implies this is not a hardware issue.

Did you connect to your phone's hotspot with Wi-Fi?

What does the app "Wireless Diagnostics" tell you?

/System/Library/CoreServices/Applications/Wireless Diagnostics

By trying everything, does that include trying with another "test" user?

Do other devices connect to the Internet correctly with the same Wi-Fi network?

Do you get any error messages trying to connect?

Please give us details.

Thanks,

ivan

To start off I restarted the router and my MacBook multiple times. My phone and other devices were able to connect to the wifi.

Then I checked to make sure no proxy settings were checked that shouldn’t be (Web, Secure web, Socks).

I then created a new location for the network instead of it being on automatic.

I tan diagnostics at this point and it said Basic Connectivity Issue.

Then I booted up in safe mode, and when that didn’t work I tried to start from Internet recovery. I received an error code -2003F.

I then restarted my router and then renewed the dhcp lease.

Then I tried using the test user, and then tried resetting the nvram.

After none of these worked I reinstalled MacOS.
