What is a private network and why is it on my WiFi?

Your phone will show all Wi-Fi networks within range of your phone. A private network is one that is only usable by someone whose phone has a certificate on it for the network or that has additional validation requirements. Any network that has a lock requires a password to use it. Your phone lists all networks because it doesn’t know which ones you have the certificate or password for.
