delete directions in apple maps on

I found this support article on the subject –

• Launch the Maps app.

• Press the Tab key, then click the Search field.

• Click the Favorites drop down that appears.

• Click Recents and then click "Clear Recents" button.

I also found that these straightforward instructions did not work for my Catalina Mac. The deletions did not stick and when I relaunched Maps, the directions returned.

So, if the above doesn't work for you then I advise to delete the com.apple.Maps.plist file located in the folder ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Maps/Data/Library/Preferences/Saved Application State/

You can get there by clicking Finder menu > Go > Go to Folder... and pasting in the above folder path.

This does work, but it also deletes any location Favorites you may have saved. It pretty much resets the Maps app.
