trouble updating to 14.7.1

so, a couple of days ago i saw that a new update was available. great! i downloaded it like usual but when it tried to install i got an error message with prompts to try again or close the message window. i tried a couple of times with the same results and from i’ve read my update could be corrupted for any number of reasons. is it possible to fix this problem by deleting the old update and downloading a new one and, if so, how would i go about doing it? if not, what should i do to resolve this issue?
