Camera Is Not Working But Green Light Is On

Hello,

My built-in camera suddenly stopped working. The green light, indicator of the camera on, comes off but the camera screen in all the apps are blank. Then after 20 seconds, the green light goes off. I checked the system report hardware and my camera is recognised there.

All of this happened so suddenly without any accidents or anything and I tried a lot of solutions none of them worked such as resetting the SMC. I also updated to BigSur but still not working. What happened so suddenly and why?? It is a MacBook Pro 2016 Thunderbolt with TouchBar. I would be very happy if you can help. Thank You.

As I said the green light goes on for a while and then it is off. And all throughout the image is this black screen. Thank you.

Hi,

Try to check your built-in camera with Apple Diagnostics if it reports built-in camera error(NDC001, NDC003 to NDC006).

Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac - Apple Support

If it doesn't help, contact Apple support or make Genius Bar reservation if your local retail Apple Store is open or find opened local Apple Authorized Service Provider to be examined your MacBook Pro camera there.

If this is an Intel Mac—

Camera would be NVRAM...

Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

(get at least two-three rounds of the chimes when holding the NRAM Reset)
