No notification when I scan code

I fixed it. Hade my code reader in settings turned off.

What kind of code are you attempting to scan and what type of notification are you expecting? Explain what is and is not happening here.
If this is a QR code, you just open your camera and place the QR code within the viewfinder. It should automatically popup a link. If it is not doing that, then check Settings>Privacy>Camera and see if there is something turned off there. Next, power cycle your iPhone and try again. If it is something other than a QR code, you may require a separate app.
In a restaurant they have a bar code to scan to see the menu. Person at next table showed me how to use it and when you scan something pops up on the top corner of screen and you just tap it.
