The last few days on my Facebook messenger app, I’ve tried to share a gif only to find that the option is missing. The app is updated. I don’t know if anyone else has had this problem but when I select the + sign button, I only get 3 options “ poll, create a room and a dollar sign but no gif option. Has anyone had this problem lately?

In FB Messenger, they hide the GIF option. Tap the blue smiley face icon in the text area and that will open the GIF option. (Between you & me, it would’ve made more sense to place the GIF option with the others under the Plus icon instead) Confusing.

Download GIPHY app> go to settings> general> keyboards> add new keyboard> select GIPHY> Allow full access
open messenger and it will be the basketball looking icon in bottom left hand of keyboard :)
I have the exact same problem. I know I’m a few months late but since the update it’s disappeared! There is only pay, make a room, or sent location when you click the plus sign. Then when you click happy face in keyboard it’s just regular emoji’s. (aimed at person 2 down) There is literally nothing!Ne

Cuz contacting FB is no help (Aimed at guy below) they don’t even respond.
In the bar where you type there is a smiley face. Click that and it will bring up the option.
While true, the manner in which Messenger works on Android vs Apple is different, and in this case the answer was simple (as seen below). Assisting a user in navigating a sometimes complex APPLE keyboard may have added more value than simply dismissing. Just my 2 cents.
This is a cop out. And it actually happens right after you do the Apple security update. Mine was working fine until I did that and I didn’t even realize at first until I updated my second iPhone that still had the gifs on it that I was using because it had gifs still. Fix it and stop passing the buck.
You will need to contact Facebook, this is not an Apple product.
This is what I get. I can do aviator but no gif?
I press smiley face and get this, still no gif
If you tap the smiley face icon in the comments bar, the icon screen pops up and to the left is the option to insert a gif instead.
