Inconsistent alarms
I have been plagued by the alarm not going off at the set time. The screen shows that it is going off, but there is no sound or the sound is muted. So, I sat and played with the alarm. What I found out was that if the phone moves while the alarm is going off, it is immediately muted. This happens most frequently when I plug the phone in and set it upside down in my bed frame (renovating the bedroom.). What I found was that if I laid it flat, upside down, sideways or upside right, the vibration caused the phone to move and subsequently muted the alarm. I turned off the “Vibrate On Ring” off, and that helped make it more reliable. With that done, I tried it again and learned that the best position for the phone to be in to make the alarm more consistent was was on a flat surface, screen up and vibration off on ring. So, what Apple may need to look at is the internal actuator that wakes the phone up when you move it. That appears to be the issue. The movement of the phone silences or mutes the alarm. You can generally have the muted alarm when you’re typing on the phone, again movement. I was typing this when the alarm went off muted, and you can barely hear it.
What Apple is not concerned with is consistency in the alarm going off when it is suppose to. The screen shows that the alarm goes of, but it is muted or silenced by the phone itself.
Hope that helps.
