Separating audio books and music

I have v large capacity on my iPhone, and like to store both music and audio books on it. I'm keeping the latter as titles/authors in my Playlists, so they are easily found, but frustratingly the authors also crop up as 'artists' in my Library. If I try to delete authors from 'Artists', I lose the lot. How can I store audiobooks only in Playlists, and keep 'Artists' unclutteredf and just for music? Thanks!

Hello PaulRBear.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. We want to make sure we're on the same page and understanding what is occurring. That way we can do our best to assist in any way we can. To confirm, are these audio books purchased from Apple? If so, these audio books should populate in the Apple Books app and not within the Music app. The following resources explain how to listen to audio books and how to sync them to your device:

Listen to audiobooks in Books on iPhone - Apple Support

Listen to audiobooks in Apple Books - Apple Support

Sync audiobooks between your Mac and iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If the audio books are from a third-party and they're appearing in the Music app, you might have to manually edit their names in order for them to populate the way you want them in your playlist.

We hope this information is useful. Cheers.
