No. You don’t have Flubot malware on your iPhone. That is carriers ‘excuse’ to get you off the call. Contact your carrier and have them to deal with it. Those scam messages are send through SMS service controlled by carrier and they should know best how to stop it or block it.

Go back and ask them what they do to stop those scam messages?

Sorry to hear that, Helen!

Is your iOS up-to-date? I've heard that sometimes malware relies on vulnerabilities in outdated iOS versions, and that updating it can prevent the malware from working.

I also know that flubot installs apps that have similar names to legit apps but aren't actually real apps, so have you noticed any weird-sounding new apps on your phone, and, if so, is the phone letting you uninstall them?

I hope this helps?

I was using Trucallers third party app and that did nothing at all. The problem with silencing unknown callers is that it silences all numbers who are not in my contacts and I don't everybody that I meet or I need to deal with once every blue moon. There is no in between solution.

I did a factory reset just in case something was installed on my phone, and it is a good clean up even though it is inconvenient. The text messages stopped for a few days, but receive one last night.

That won’t stop scammers. They use automated system to check every possible number and eventually they will get a ‘hit’ on your friends and family only number too.

It is your carrier who should step in and do something about it. Unfortunately they don’t seem to care much as for them that is very small % of overall calls going through their infrastructure and more importantly it’s not them who loses the money.

There are things you can do to limit but not stop it from happening. Silence Unknown Callers under Settings > Phone is your minimum, but you might look for some 3rd party apps to filter call numbers too; search for those that works best in your region, not those that shows best flashy ads everywhere.
