Mac Pro 2013 Random Reboots

I've been experiencing random reboots on my Mac Pro. Nothing in particular is causing it. Some times it's once a week, some times it's once a day. No real rhyme or reason. No specific time or workload.

I've tried zapping the PRAM, SMC, etc. All of the normal diagnostic stuff. Every once in a while I'd get a crash dialog with the reason, but of course now that I'm trying to find the problem, I haven't received one.

System:

Mac Pro (2013)

Processor: 2.7 GHz 12-Core Intel Xeon E5

Memory: 128 GB 1066 MHz DDR3

Graphics: AMD FirePro D300 2 GB

OS: macOS 11.5.2

There doesn't seem to be any crash logs in Console or on the system either. The last bits of logs in system.log are suspicious. These appear in a flood before the BOOT_LOG message appears.

The technique is discussed in the linked article.

Run your regular work, and keep the memory display window open, and refresh it from time-to-time for up-to-date data.

You can also do a half-interval search, but that does not use the memory with exactly the same timing so results are wildly variable.

remove half the modules and run that way.

if an error, one of the modules still in the machine is bad, otherwise one of the modules on the desk is questionable.

divide the dubious group in half and continue to test until you converge on one or a pair of modules.

NB> if you get it down to an aftermarket pair, return them to the vendor whose proof-of-purchase stickers are on the modules. They have memory testing machines, and will send you replacement pair and deal with which might be bad for themselves.
