Email content becomes bold character

Dear all,


I have no idea but when I get an email at first it looks normal but then after reading the email or replying to it, whole email content turn into bold characters. It looks like the sender wrote his/her email in bold. It is really annoying because this happens in both of my computers which are installed with Big Sur. Then, when I use text editor such as Atom I can see my entire script is in bold which I can't revert it.


Any suggestion to solve this annoying issue.

Hey c_luc9,


I have followed your suggestions of removing login items (which was only dropbox) and then I started in safe mode. So far, everything turn into normal. Let's see how it will go in next couple of days because this doesn't happen with all the email.


By the way, answers to your questions:

Yes I am using Mail app and it happens when I wanted to reply the email. Everything gets bold. Even the older email in the same conversation. I tested in Spark Mail too in which I use iCloud for syncing and the email appeared bold in Mail application of MacOS also appeared bold in Spark Mail.


Anyway... As I said after following your suggestions it get back to normal. Thank you so much and I'll write you back if the issue appears.

We have a few questions to better understand the issue you're having:


  • Are you using the Mail application when this happens?
  • Does this happen with all mail messages that you receive?
  • Are you using iCloud for email or a third party email server, like Gmail or Yahoo?
  • If using a third party email provider, do you continue to have this issue when you go directly to your email provider website to access your email?


To help further isolate potential causes for this behavior, see if this continues to be an issue when you restart your Mac in safe mode:

If you're able to view your email messages without issue, the next step would be to rule out incompatible login items:


Remove login items to resolve startup problems on your Mac
