Boot loop

My iPhone XR won't turn on and is stuck in a boot loop. When I try to turn it on it shows the apple then shuts right down again. It now shows a charger and an arrow to plug it into my computer. I did that and I tried to update it first and it failed, and then I tried to restore it to factory settings and neither worked. What do I do next? I have an appointment with the Genius bar tomorrow at 4:45. Am I looking at having to get a new phone?

Hello:) This is an excellent prior post by Axel Foley...take a look:

"(1) Try and Force Restart your iPhone exactly as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

  • Press and quickly release Volume UP button
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
  • Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF).

(2)  If the above does not work then - Follow the instructions in this article by Apple ➔ If your iPhone is Non-Responsive or Frozen and see if that helps.

(3)  If that does not help your phone might need service ➔  Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support"
