Touch ID is GONE from "System Preferences."
HOW do I get it back? Under "System Information" is shows it's in the system (software) but it's shown "NO" as visible. How do I make it visible again????

Learn how to get your Mac fixed and how much it will cost. https://support.apple.com/mac/repair/service
Get your Mac ready for service - Apple Support https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209095
A VERY new issue. Our office secretary attempted to delete her fingerprint in order to add it again (it wasn't working very well she said) and when she deleted what she thought was the saved fingerprint, the Touch ID itself was deleted from "System Preferences"
I can ONLY find it through "System Information" under "Preference Pane" and it's listed as "NO" under "visible"
We have done ALL the Apple Support person led us in yesterday. ALL the tricks... even reinstalled MacOS...
Did this yesterday. It didn't work. We also created a new profile to see if it showed up there. It doesn't. NO tricks the Apple Support guy offered yesterday, worked. BUT... it shows it's "there" under "System Information." It's just not visible.
Is this a New Issue - if so what changes have occurred ??
Is this an Old Issue - if so what actions have been taken to resolve the issue ??
Follow the advise from previous posting of @leroydouglas
I have the same problem did all the suggestions but no result. Sometimes the Touch ID shows up, when I disconnect/connect the keyboard but cannot add fingerprint because text is greyed. I think there is a technical problem with the keyboard and or Touch ID button.
Suggestion - Restart the computer in Safe Mode and Test if it reappears
Start up an Intel-based Mac in safe mode
Start up a Mac with Apple silicon in safe mode
Yes have seen you other posting on similar issue and think suggested getting it serviced by Apple Authorized Service Centre and or Follow the advise / posting of @leroydouglas above.
