Camera app keeps crashing after iOS 14.7.1 update

Anyone have a solution to their iPhone camera app that keeps crashing? It works for awhile, then suddenly I'll open it and it crashes. It'll open, show an image, then boom! back to the home page. If I try to reopen it, I get a black screen inside the camera bounds.

This happens with attempting to use the camera app inside certain apps, like Facebook and especially Messages, but even from the home screen it happens. I've tried shutting down all apps to free memory, but the only thing that works is a hard reset. Then it works again...until it crashes again when I try to use it. I've noticed the phone seems warmer than usual when it occurs. Given this is a new phenomenon and I can otherwise use the camera just fine, I'm confident it's a software issue, but I see nothing from Apple saying there's a fix coming. I'm stuck with hard resets to have a functional camera app.

Thanks for the update. What you can do next is reinstall iOS, using the steps found in this article. Keep in mind the title of the resource does not match your issue, but the steps included under step 4 are what you want to take (select "update" instead of restore while in recovery). Always be sure you have a current backup of your information before proceeding.

Thanks, Eric, but even though I'm pretty comfortable with technology and OS in particular, reinstalling iOS is not something I want to undertake on my own.

I'm leaving for Hawaii in a few days, and chasing down a time for a Genius Bar visit and risking my entire livelihood--my phone is my primary computer for travel--is not something I have time for or wish to experience. I remember losing my entire photo album with an update that required completely rebuilding it, taking months. Then there was the time I lost my iTunes when I switched to a Windows ME computer...

Is there no other way? Is anyone else experiencing this?

I've done items 1-3 multiple times. They don't fix the issue. The camera app comes standard on an iPhone (a "built-in app"), so I have no idea how to re-download it.

According to Apple Support pages (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208094), the Camera app is NOT removable, nor is it available for download in the App store. So, how exactly am I supposed to do as you direct?
