Is it possible to print with an HP Photosmart C4700 series driver from the Dec 11, 2020 package download from Apple? If not, try (again) to reset the printing system, and-re-add the printer.

If it supports it just use AirPrint. I use that with my Photosmart and it works fine, including the scanner.

Did all this and I still cannot scan with HP Photosmart 4780 and Big Sur. So it did not work. Apple does not support the printer, or I am doing something wrong?
Hello,
To begin with, it may be a good idea to reset the printing system. Does the operating system offer a suitable driver to use?
If not, you may want to try the Dec 11, 2020 HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for macOS (https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US) package download from Apple. Look for something like the HP Photosmart C4700 series version 3.3.2 driver mentioned in the referenced Printer and scanner drivers for Mac - Apple Support article.
Unfortunately, the C4780 does not appear to support the driverless AirPrint technology.
